Our 5 studio condo units have been rated 4 stars by AAA Traveler info! They recommend my units and say they are the "BEST DEAL in Kona, great price and quality accomodations!!! Frommer's Review says This is the most affordable place to stay in Kailua-Kona. These plantation-style, three-story buildings are surrounded by lush, palm-tree-lined gardens with torch-lit pathways that make it hard to believe you're smack-dab in the middle of downtown. The central location -- across the street from the historic Kona Inn Shops -- is convenient. The units were recently upgraded and outfitted with tile floors,new appliances, new bedspreads and curtains, and a fresh coat of paint Our Tropical Oceanfront Resort Retreat is located on the main street of Alii Drive in center of downtown romantic Kona,Hawaii. My units have recently been remodeled! All 5 of them have new kitchen cabinets, new countertops/sinks, new tile floors, very comfortable queen size beds,nice hawaiian rattan couch that also folds into a queen size-hide abed, solid oak dining table and chairs, dressers, entertainment centers, glass-top tables and chairs on the large lanai. Our units are fully furnished with everything you will need for a short or extended stay! Also new ceiling fans and new air conditioners. We have WI-FI access, cable tv and telephone available in your room. Kitchens include refrigerator, microwave oven, electric frying pan,coffee maker, blender,rice cooker,toaster,dishes,utensils, Units also include all the linens,towels, ect. We are located just one block north of the Hard Rock cafe, Outback restaurant,and one block south of the famous Wyland art gallery,and those are just some of the wonderful restaurants and sidewalk cafes, boutiques and shopping just steps from your room.

The famous Kona Farmers Market is only 1/2 block from your room. There you can find every kind of fresh fruit and flowers and local Hawaiian arts and crafts the Big Island has to offer!

We have 5 units and all have a great view! RATES LOW SEASON (May 1,2008 to December 14, 2008) $69.00 per night+ $40 cleaning fee $480per week (7 nights plus cleaning and tax) Rates HIGH SEASON (December 15, 2007 to April 30th,2008) $89.00 per night +$40 cleaning fee $575 per week (7 nights plus tax and cleaning) rate Discounts for monthly rentals! Rates for Ironman (October 1-17, 2008) are $99 per night 7 night minimum stay P.S I know of great places that the tourist books don't tell you about! The best authentic Luau in the Islands is here in Kona! Fabulous snorkel spots, empty beaches, hiking trails, and more!! Even some out of the way local restaurants that have very "ONO" (means the best) local seafood and local dishes!!

Area Description

This unique complex is a hidden tropical retreat in the heart of Kona Village! Located on Alii Drive and only a few steps away from the famous Kona farmers market,the Hard Rock cafe, and Wylands art gallery. The Queen Liliuokalani summer palace museum is right down the street,and across from there is the famous old stone church built 150 years ago, lots of cool boutiques and unique shops, restaurants and cozy cafes galore. The Kona Islander has a private ocean beach park exclusively for your use! It is directly across the street from the complex. Watch surfers,and whales ride the waves while you sunbath or snorkel with the turtles only 20 steps from your door. Only a short stroll everything! Don't forget to go to the pier and watch the ships come in. Also there is the Kona Marketplace Mall where you can watch musicians play for free every night! Drink chilled coconut milk right out of the shell from the famous Kona Farmers Market and there is tons more things to see and do or even better just lay by the pool and relax

Kona International Airport at Keahole -KOA- Start out going east on Keahole Airport Road, Turn slight right onto Queen Kaahumanu Hwy,Turn slight right onto Palani Road, Stay on Palani Road into Kona Village, you are now on Alii Drive -Ocean Highway-. Just past the only stop sign, you will see Bubba Gumps Restaurant on the right, just past Bubba Gumps on your left, you will see a large Kona Islander Inn sign, Turn left at the Kona Islander driveway. Hint if you see Hard Rock Cafe, please turn around as you have just past us.

Kailua-Kona: Kona Islander Inn: "Very Happy with Room 329

We just returned from a wonderful week in Kona (returned on October 24th, 2007) and stayed in Room 329.
According to other reviews this is a hit and miss lodging, depending on the unit, because each unit is owned by individuals that may or may not keep their units clean and updated. All I can say is we were very happy with room 329 with an oceanview and it's easy to visit all the great restaurants and great sunset watering holes in town quite easily by foot.

For the value, you can't beat it... There is no maid service (which is no big deal), The noise from the street was not as bad as some have described, as a matter of fact the sound of the ocean waves is the predominant (and peaceful) sound we heard.

My husband and I stayed ocean view in room #327 and it was very clean and well kept. Its so nice to just walk out the front door in any direction and have it all at your finger tips. Its pretty small but who needs a lot of room. It fits a couple just fine.

The Kona Islander Inn is a simple yet delightful hotel/apartment complex in Kailua-Kona. My wife and I have stayed there for several weeks while on vacation in Hawai'i. The condos themselves are small and simple, but all are clean and have all the facilities we wanted. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

It is well located just a few minutes walk from the center of Kona and close to shops, a great ocean-side bar and the Wyland gallery of marine art.We look forward to going again.
